The wildebeest that had congregated on the Paradise Plain have all crossed the river into the Mara conservancy. There was a massive concentration on the central Mara triangle earlier in the week but the herbivores have now drifted southwards towards Engoiwateet salt lick on the border of the Mara-Serengeti ecosystems.
The herds on the eastern side of the Mara have moved northwards. Most of the wildebeest and zebra herds that were on the Olorukoti and Musiara Plains have headed south for the Meta and Central Plains where they have settled.
The Mara witnessed the largest ever river crossing on the Talek River as the herds were heading south. It has been twelve years sincesuch an intense crosiing has been witnessed. There were about 300 deaths that have resulted in an extremely high concentration of vultures.
There have also been excellent sightings of big cats and their cubs over the last week with lions activley hunting during the day. Cheetah and leopards have also been seen daily , taking full advantage of this opportunity to feast.
